Executive Headteacher and Head of School
Welcome to St Boniface's Catholic College
Welcome from the Executive Headteacher
Thank you for visiting our website. St Boniface’s has a proud tradition of educational provision in Plymouth. Many of our alumni have gone on to highly successful careers in a range of fields, from sporting to business. Our school began in 1856as a ‘school for young Catholic gentlemen’. Today St Boniface’s is open to all boys, those who are Catholic, those of other Christian churches, members of other faiths, and those with none. Our educational focus remains the same as it ever was: the development of character, informed by Gospel values of love, compassion and generosity of spirit. Our motto ‘Bona Facite’ means ‘Do Good’, and we constantly encourage each and every member of our school to do exactly this, through honour, integrity and service.
We live in a world in which it is increasingly challenging to grow up. The young are faced with competing values, contrary ‘truths’ and sometimes lack the space and support to discern what they need in order to flourish. We are building a school where the needs of boys are known, understood and addressed in multiple aspects of our provision.
As an over-subscribed school, St Boniface’s offers a unique place to grow and be formed, ready to live life to the full.

A welcome from the Head of School
St Boniface’s is a successful and welcoming school where students and teachers enjoy learning together. Ofsted noted that ‘Pupils at St Boniface’s College describe their school community as a family’ (April 2025).
Our school is a happy place to learn and work, with every member of our school community making an important contribution to maintaining our ethos and values. St Boniface’s has been on a rapid improvement journey over recent years. We are very proud of all that has been achieved, by our students and their parents and carers; our wonderful staff, the Governing Board and our Trust, Plymouth CAST. As a result of this, we have seen all areas of performance improve year on year and we are fully committed to continuing to strive to provide the best education possible for our students.
We are able to tailor our curriculum and the resources available to our students to meet the needs of all boys. We use the latest educational research to ensure that our teachers use the most modern strategies to engage boys in their learning. We place great importance in educating our students on what it means to be a man in today's society.
We believe St Boniface is a truly special place to be. Ofsted confirmed this in their most recent inspection in April 2025, recognising ‘There is a deep moral purpose behind the school’s work to provide the best education possible for its pupils. Leaders and staff at all levels are united in this purpose and proud to work at the school.’
Whether you are a prospective student, alumnus, present-day member of the school community, or a visitor, we hope you enjoy browsing our website and gaining an insight into the vibrant and wonderful school that is St Boniface’s College.
